Man Loses 100 Pounds on Plant-Based Diet

man loses 100 pounds on dietObesity is the leading cause of cardiac-related diseases. In addition, it is also known to cause type-2 diabetes. Losing weight is a difficult task for obese people, so it may seem unlikely that a man loses 100 pounds with diet and exercise.

However, one man managed this feat by following a vigilant diet and exercise routine. His name is Eric O’Grey, and he weighed 280 pounds before he altered his diet. Not only was he obese but he also suffered from type-2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

Eric O’Grey was concerned about his health and weight but could never really find a sure-shot method that would help him lose weight. Then, one day, he saw President Clinton being interviewed on a news channel. During the interview, Clinton spoke about a plant-based diet and how it could do wonders. This is when Eric decided to follow such a diet in an attempt to lose weight.

The transition from a completely meat-based diet to a vegan diet was rather tough for him. Moreover, Eric was not aware of how to plan a plant-based diet. To help him adapt to the diet, he bought a book and hired a nutritionist. At first, Eric thought that a plant-based diet would include salads only. He was rather surprised to find out the variety of foods he could eat being on a strictly vegan diet. With a push in the right direction from his nutritionist, O’Grey adapted to the plant-based diet within a few months.

To take his weight loss efforts to the next level, he began exercising as well. His exercise regimen was quite basic in the beginning: he would go out for walks with his dog to build a steady stamina. Slowly and gradually, he began exercising in a more intense manner.

Two years later, Eric O’Grey was running for 40 miles in a week. What’s more impressive is that he competed in five full marathons in 2012. In addition, he successfully completed about 15 half-marathons. If a man loses 100 pounds in his 50s, the best that he might normally think of doing would be to continue exercising. Eric O’Grey, on the other hand, managed to take his body to a new level of physical perfection in a mere two years.

His weight loss journey was a long one, but Eric is more than satisfied with the results. In 2010, when he began the vegan diet and exercise, he had a 50-inch waist and weighed a staggering 280 lbs. Two years later, he had a slim 32-inch waist and weighed 175 lbs. The best part is that he managed to overcome the cardiac problems he had as well as the type-2 diabetes.

A vegan diet may not seem like your cup of tea, but when a man loses 100 pounds, it is proof enough that the diet works—and is worth considering for yourself.
